21 Books I want to read in 2021

I shared my reading goals for 2021 last week (if you want to see them click here). However I thought it would be nice to me to share 21 books I want to read during this year, I ma hoping it will help me focus on my TBR and maybe finish a few series! Narrowing my list down to 21 books was really difficult!  I was a lot harder than I thought it would be!

The House of Hades & Heroes of Olympus; Heroes of Olympus Book 4 and 5 by Rick Riordan

I started reading this series during the summer and while I have slowly been making my way through the series and I think it is time I finish it!

Mina and the Undead by Amy Mcaw

Mina and the Undead by Amy Mcaw book cover

I have bee really looking forward to this book since the cover release. While it is a horror and I don’t tend to read them as there hasn’t been much excitement in life recently I thought I would give this a go! With Vampires and Mysteries I am hoping I will enjoy it.

To Kill a Mockingbird and Go Set a Watchman – Harper Lee

While I have heard mixed reviews about Go Set a Watchman it has been on my bookcase gathering dust since it was newly published, I think it is about time I sit down and read it or I will always be wondering what it was about. I also haven’t read to Kill a Mockingbird for at least 15 years, so it would be a nice refresher to re-read it.

A River of Royal Blood by Amanda Joy

A River of Royal Blood by Amanda Joy, book cover.

I read the excerpt which was available on NetGalley and loved it. The concept is not something that I have read before and I am looking forward to getting my hands on the book and reading the rest of it!

Thief of Time by Terry Pratchett

Thief of Time by Terry Pratchett a Discworld novel.

I have a few discworld novels on my TBR but this year I am hoping to read Thief of Time. As someone who enjoyed Hogfather, the Auditors make another appearance and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for the characters this time.

The Stolen Kingdom by Jillian Boehme

The Stolen Kingdom by Jillian Boehme

This book is due to be published on 2 March 2021 and from the description it is a book that I will love. Magic, Kingdoms and forbidden love what more could I possibly want!

Crescent City by Sarah J Maas

House of Earth and Blood, by Sarah J Maas, Book cover

If you have been following me for a while you will know I loved the Throne of Glass series, it was one of the few series I actually managed to start and finish last year! I didn’t manage to get to this book though so there should be no surprise that it is here.

Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton

I was bought this for my birthday by a friend and the blurb sounds amazing. A murder mystery with time travel! As someone who enjoys reading the occasional mystery this sound right up my alley.

Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson

I have heard a lot of positive things about this series and this has led me to picking it up. I am hoping to read the first one soon and if the series is as good as everyone says I will probably binge the series.

The Hobbit by J R R Tolkien

The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien

I started this book last year (of you count 10 pages read) as starting it! I enjoyed reading Lord of the Rings a few years ago though I did feel it was a slow start. The Hobbit is meant to be a much easier read aimed at younger children, but when I picked it up I clearly wasn’t in the right mood to read it so hopefully this year I will manage to pick it up at the right time.

The Apollo Series by Rick Riordan

I have nearly read all the Rick Riordan series that I currently own, the first two books on this list are the end of one of Rick Riordan’s series. This series I have completed on my bookcase and I know I need to start it soon. But I am trying to reduce the amount of ongoing series that I am reading. Though my first and second reads of the year are both the beginning of a series (we will all have to ignore this for now!).

The Complete Winnie-the-Pooh by A. A. Milne

The complete collection of Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne

I haven’t read much Winnie-the-Pooh, but when I was a lot younger (at least 20 years younger) I was gifted two copies of this. While I have put one aside of Charity, considering I wanted to keep hold of the other I feel that it should be time that I read it!

Great Expectations by Charles Dickens

Great Expectations by Charles Dickens

Every year I make the effort to read a classic book, and for Christmas of 2019 my fiancé gave me a beautiful copy of this book by Charles Dickens. I read a Christmas Carol just before Christmas and while I am aware that it is not typical for Dickens’ writing I would like to read this classic during 2021.

What books are you commiting to reading in 2021? Let me know in the comments below.
