It has been exactly four weeks since my last wrap up, and the shortest month of the year has passed without much happening. I walked the dog a few times, took a week off which let me get a little ahead on my reading and blog post writing and catch up on my sleep for a few days. But due to current circumstances not much else happened.
As I have been on leave for a week, despite the month being three whole days shorter than last month I have managed to read 1436 pages and 4 books, meaning I am still on track to hit fifty books during the year. I did read a couple of ARCs, one of the reviews is due out shortly but this impacted on my backreads challenge read. I am planning to take a break from ARCs, unless I am asked to read any of the sequels to the ones that I have recently read.

My favourite book of the month was The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson! I haven’t written the review yet but the book was amazing and I am writing the review soon! This was one of my Backlist reads of the month, granted it should have been in January but it is better late than never! I am starting book two tomorrow if you want to read along!
I shared a book review of the second book in the Fate of Crown Series by Rebecca L Garcia called the Princess of Nothing. While I did enjoy this book there were a couple of elements that didn’t work for me.
I also wrote a book review for Blood Oath by Christopher Farnsworth. This book is a paranormal book for adult readers, which are all things that I do not usually read. But I did enjoy this instalment of the Nathaniel Cade Series.
Another couple of book reviews I wrote this month was City of Lost Souls and the City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare, the penultimate book and the final book in the series of the Mortal Instruments.
I wrote a post about reading slump vs switching off. This month I have had a pause in my reading to allow me a break from thinking about my blog (which I am enjoying doing but working full time alongside it is taking its toll on me!) and just watching something so I can enjoy it. I was watching the Mortal Instrument Series on Netflix, so I may do a comparison for the books at some point.
I also wrote an article about reading outside your usual genre. As I said above I read Blood Oath recently which is certainly outside of my usual genres. I know that everyone can become habitually stuck in reading only what they have tried before so I wanted to encourage a few more people to try stepping outside their usual genres!
I wrote a 5 quick tips on reading a book when you have realised you don’t like the main character. It may not happen often but we do sometimes come across a book where we want to read it but you are still invested in the story.
My Backlist TBR for March is
The Well of Ascension – Brandon Sanderson

As I shared above I loved the first book in this series so I am going to make my way through the hefty 763 pages of this book.
Small Gods by Terry Pratchett

I didn’t manage to get to Small Gods during February so I am going to have that as my second book for the month. If I manage to finish both of these I may try to squeeze another in but I would have to consult my TBR. I don’t want to keep adding other books and never getting to them.
